It’s not until you have to move a heavy or large piece of equipment or furniture that you begin to appreciate just how much you have to consider. It’s not just the object you’re moving, but how you have to move it. If you’re considering mounting wheels to the item, you have to consider how heavy the object is, the space that’s required to move it, and what kind of surface the platform is rolling over. Casters are a great help for this kind of situation, however, you don’t want to get a poorly designed or poorly matched set of casters. If you do, you could be looking at damage to your floors from cracks and scuffing due to the weight of your equipment, damage to the walls due to the casters not giving you ample mobility, and potential caster breakage causing both time and money to replace and repair damage to the equipment and its surroundings. After sixty years of experience, at Douglas Equipment we know a thing or two about designing quality casters at a price you can afford. Whether your mobility needs are in the hospitality, hotel, or moving industry, we’ve got the expertise that our competition does not.
Give us an idea of what you need to move, its weight, what type of surface it is being moved over, and other basic requirements; and we’ll give you a durable high quality caster with a long life span that you’ll be happy with. Our casters come in capacities ranging from 40 to 40,000 lbs and we offer a wide variety of casters for all kinds of industrial and residential needs. We can offer bulk orders at low prices that our competition cannot and our location in southern Florida means we can also quickly deliver to locations in the Caribbean if necessary. Whatever your needs are, Douglas Equipment has a caster solution for you. Listed below are just a few samples of the type of quality casters that could work for you:
Ball Casters
When people think of casters, they normally think of ball casters. Chances are you will see equipment or furniture mounted on one of these in your daily routine. Office chairs use this type of caster to provide mobility to the user without damaging the floor. We manufacture a line called Baron Casters that comes with either a rubber or polyolefin ball. It’s a big hit with furniture and seating manufacturers due to its decorative appeal, durability and ease of installation. The polyolefin and rubber designs also ensure that even delicate floor surfaces such as marble remain unmarred.
Business Machine Casters
This series of casters was designed for supporting valuable office equipment. We designed these casters to handle a heavy load while also having a low profile for ease of access and ease of mobility. This series is good for copiers, computer storage devices, vending machines, and much more. This caster also is part of the BLS/BMS series, which means you can purchase it with our Sure-Lok Brake. It’s an innovative braking system that helps quickly hold equipment in place without causing unnecessary wear and tear on the equipment or casters.
Contour Solus Casters
These casters are great for high tech products as well as medical or diagnostic equipment. They’re used extensively in hospital environments around the world. The casters come with a foot brake that both locks the wheel and the swivel thus ensuring a quick controlled stop. These casters are quiet and have a precision axle that gives them smooth operation and a long life span. The precision bearings within the caster reduce maintenance and help enhance mobility. The wheels are made of polyurethane which protects the floor from scratches and scuffs.
Encore Dolly Caster
This caster is the work horse of material handling equipment, i.e. dollies, hand trucks, stock carts, etc. The wheels are made of thermoplastic rubber to handle weight and not damage flooring, but with a unique tread design that prevents cutting and tearing seen with many other thermoplastic rubber wheels. These casters come in a range of capacities starting at 180 lbs. all the way up to 260 lbs. They have a single centered precision wheel bearing which allows great mobility while reducing the potential vulnerabilities found in multiple wheel bearing models. With these casters, your medium sized material handling needs can be completed safely without any damage to the walls and floors of the operating environment.
8 Series Enforcer Kingpinless Top Plate Swivel & Rigid Casters
Should you require an extremely tough and powerful caster capable of withstanding a maximum weight of 6,000 lbs., then look no further. This caster comes with either a swivel plate or a rigid one depending on your needs. The caster features robotic welding inside and outside its formed fork legs to maintain consistent quality. The wheels can be manufactured out of a variety of materials including, but not limited to, forged steel, polyurethane, performa rubber, and phenolic resin wheels. Depending on the wheel material, they can function within a temperature range of -45 degrees Fahrenheit to 180 degrees Fahrenheit. The casters are also lubricated with multi-temperature grease for extreme hot or cold temperatures.
