Hamilton Casters – Known for Quality
Hamilton Caster & Mfg has a large amount of confidence in the quality, performance and endurance of their casters and have been ranked #1 in product quality in two market studies sponsored by ‘New Equipment Digest’ and ‘Industrial Equipment News’. This confidence comes out in every product they supply through a high quality and long lasting product that customers have counted on for well over a century.
One of the outstanding features of Hamilton casters is their Hamilton Precision Integrated (HPI) swivel technology. This is the next generation swivel technology found on many of the forged steel casters, which outperforms the conventional CNC-machined ball raceways, unit load bearing swivel constructions and kingpinless swivels. This new design improves the bearing by increasing the number of contact points (more than double) and incorporates a raceway that is incredibly smooth and harder than conventional raceways. This is standard on many models, and can be upgraded on most of the other standard series casters.
Some models that include the HPI technology as standard are:
- MD Series Maxi-Duty Casters: This is Hamilton’s flagship caster. With a long service life and dependable performance when moving heavy loads, these casters have a load capacity that ranges from 3,000 lbs. to 23,000 lbs. with wheel diameters of 6” to 16”.
- MDD Series Maxi-Duty Dual Wheel: Built on the MD platform, these casters have a lower height and higher maximum capacity. The dual wheels have widths of 3” to 4” and are made of high quality materials with great wear resistance. Load capacity ranges from 5,000 lbs. to 15,600 lbs. with wheel diameters of 6” to 12”.
- EHD Series, Extra Heavy Duty Casters: These model casters are designed for heavy industrial applications where it is necessary to ensure dependable operation. Some common industries that employ these casters are shipbuilding, jet engine factories and heavy equipment manufacturers. The casters include HPI premium raceways; CNC-machined and hardened. The casters are machined from drop forged steel for a rugged and easy swivel operation. Load capacity ranges from 840 lbs. to 10,000 lbs. with wheel diameters of 6” to 12”.
- EPSD Series Enhanced Precision: Extra heavy duty casters with good balance and excellent proportions (Maximum height only 8.5” to 15.5”). Load capacity ranges from 2,000 lbs. to 10,000 lbs. with wheel diameters of 6” to 12”.
Casters need wheels, and Hamilton has several wheel materials to choose from to satisfy any requirements you have including:
- Polyurethane: Carrying higher loads than rubber, and also outlasting it, these wheels offer protection of your floor as well as quiet operation. Polyurethane is liquid cast onto cast iron, aluminum or forged steel centers and have load capacities ranging from 475 lbs. to 9,000 lbs.
- Nylon/Plastic: For easy rolling, chemical resistance and high capacity, these casters can’t be beat. They include Nylon, Phenolic or Polyolefin materials and have load capacities from 200 lbs. to 10,000 lbs.
- Track/V-Grooved/Flanged: These wheels take loads off the floor, which allows easier rolling, better floor protection and higher capacities. Load capacities range from 380 lbs. to 16,000 lbs.
- Rubber: These long wearing wheels are widely used on industrial equipment and can be molded onto iron, aluminum or plastic centers. Load capacities available from 200 lbs. to 3,000 lbs.
- Metal: With the highest capacity and tensile strength these wheels are popular for high heat applications. They provide easy rolling, but do not offer floor protection for soft flooring. Load capacities from 250 lbs. to 23,000 lbs.
- Pneumatic/Solid/Semi: These wheels work well on rough and uneven surfaces and provide the best cushioning in these terrains. They turn quietly and protect softer floors. Load capacities range from 300 lbs. to 4,200 lbs.
- Super Duty Press-on: These solid, chemically bonded tires are available on replaceable steel rims and can be pressed-on to heavy duty CNC-machined metal centers. Load capacity ranges from 2,500 lbs. to 14,400 lbs.
One area of great pride for Hamilton casters is their commitment to environmental protection, including the conservation of natural resources. They continually strive to limit and reduce their environmental impact by using low volatile organic compound (VOC) enamels for finishes on their products as compared to zinc plating, which has a higher environmental impact. 95% of the waste generated by their processes is recycled to keep their products and activities environmentally sound and prevent the waste of precious natural resources. This makes Hamilton high on your list of choices if you are looking for casters manufactured with a low environmental footprint.
