If you are looking to increase your warehouse’s efficiency, then the purchase of a Morse drum roller is one way to do just that. If you rotate your drums to blend or mix their contents, then you can look to save both time and money. You’ll also make sure that the drum’s contents are at a desired consistency as the contents of a drum are likely to settle and even separate over time, especially when a drum has been stored for an extended period.
By using a Morse Drum Roller, you will also address a variety of safety issues. If you mix the contents of drums without having to decant them first, you will avoid several risks, including spillage and splashing. This is something that’s essential if the drum contains dangerous or hazardous contents. Using a drum roller instead of decanting and mixing also reduces the risk of contamination and the potential need for cleanup. You will also not require external mixing vessels either.

Types of Drum Rollers Manufactured by Morse and Supplied by Douglas Equipment
- Portable Drum rRolle – A portable drum roller can be moved to any part of your warehouse where it is needed. Simply use any suitable means to lift your drum on its side onto the roller, then use A/C power to roll the drum and agitate its contents. Designed to take standard 55-gallon drums, you can use the drum roller to roll any kind of drum from 6” to 28” in diameter, and up to 40” in length. The liquid load capacity is 500 lbs., and the dry load is 400 lbs. at a maximum rotation speed of 10 RPM.
- Stationary Drum Roller – The ideal choice if portability of the drum roller is unnecessary. Simply lower your drum onto the roller – ideally using a drum lifter – and mix the drum’s contents without the need to decant. Capable of rolling drums from 6 to 28” in diameter, and at one of three factory-set speeds – 10, 20 or 30 RPM. You can also purchase models where you can choose the speed yourself from 0 to 40 RPMs.
- Hydra-lift Drum Roller – The ultimate in convenience and the best way to maximize your warehouse’s efficiency. With a hydra-lift drum roller you simply load your drum upright into position at the front of the roller – no need to lift! Once in position you simply engage the hydraulic mechanism to lift the drum into place, horizontal upon the motorized drum rollers. The motorized system will rotate your drum at any speed of your choice from 5 to 20 RPM, until the contents inside are thoroughly mixed. The hydraulic system is then used to return the drum back to its upright position for easy transportation.
All Morse Drum Rollers are available with optional guard enclosure kits with safety interlocks where the safety interlock actually can cut power to the drum roller when the door to the enclosure is opened. There are also options to roll plastic drums and pails.
Ways in Which the Use of a Morse Drum Roller Will Increase Your Warehouse’s Efficiency
- No decanting – The contents of a drum will settle during storage, or will agitate during transportation. As a result, the consistency of the contents will not be as desired when they are used. If you do not have a drum roller, then you will need to decant the contents in order to mix them. This is a waste of valuable resources which could be utilized elsewhere. There is also the risk of spillage which at the very least will require clean-up, and could be hazardous or even dangerous, leading to possible injury and litigation issues.
- Little manual intervention required – Once your drum is in position, the actual mixing can be left to the machine itself. All the drum rollers manufactured by Morse and supplied by our team here at Douglas Equipment are motorized, which means once in position you can leave your drum roller to do what it needs to do. This frees up labor that can be used elsewhere. Manual rolling is also time-consuming and tiring, so your employees will work much more efficiently if the drum rolling is handled by automated means.
- Automated drum rolling is a real time saver – As with any type of business, time spent on drum rolling is a real drain on available resources and as a result, it will end up costing you money. Inefficient rotating of the contents will lead to the materials contained within your drum not being fit for use which will likely have a domino effect to your company’s reputation. It really pays in the long-run to be smart and save time and money by using the automated solutions to your drum rolling needs as offered by Morse.
